Meet our team!
Hi :) We are Matt and Annanie and we started Forever Bee almost 9 years ago from the ground up. We have 5 kids and 2 grandkids and most of them have been involved in the business to some degree. They have helped with beekeeping, making candles and flavoured honey, and staffing markets. We are so appreciative of having such a loving family, a hard-working team to help us, and an incredibly supportive community.
Hi, I'm Ritzie! I have been with Forever Bee since the very beginning and have loved watching as we continue expanding our production and develop meaningful relationships within our community. When I am not helping out behind the scenes, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
I’m Kathy, aka Aunt Kathy. Knowing I’m Matt & Annanie’s most favorite Auntie in the world 🙂, how could I resist being involved with their family business while doing what I like to do most - Digital Art Illustrations & of course eating honey? Forever Bee’s honey is the best I have ever tasted so being part of their team to spread the sweetness is to me, “the bees knees”!
Hi, I'm Kira. I'm already Mom to a bee-utiful 1 year old. She loves to bee Mama's little helper, and is soon to bee a big sister In two weeks! I love being a part of the Forever Bee Family. This month has been particularly interesting to see our team adapt to the unpredictable changes in today's world. I'm so proud to be a part of this family.
Let me introduce myself: my name is Heather and I am lucky to be the lady who delivers your honey in the Calgary area. I also help in the warehouse and when markets are running, I love to introduce Forever Bee products to customers, old and new!
I am Joelynn, a stay home mom and wife. I believe in using natural products for my health and well-being. Which is why I love being a honey bee worker selling honey and products at your local markets.
Hi, I'm Lanice! I am fun, outgoing, and a self proclaimed pun master. I work in the main warehouse and take pride in the hand crafted products that are delivered to you.
I'm Cassandra, a momma to one. We spend our time together baking and enjoying as much sunshine as possible! I've been working with Forever Bee on and off for the last few years and am happy to officially be a part of the family as your customer service representative.
Gifts with Purchase:
From now until tomorrow at midnight MDT, any orders placed will be eligible for FREE gifts with purchase! Order on the website, call/text Kira at 403-915-0454, or email kira@foreverbee.ca!
Beehives
You asked for some more beekeeping content, and we've got it for you!
Our beekeeping season just started and we are at the mercy of Mother Nature, BUT Annanie took some time to show us how we set up our beehives and explains how the different parts of the hive function!
What's something new that you learned?!
Beekeeping
Annanie and Matt were able to get out to some of our hives at Souto Farms in Airdrie to give us a peek at what the start of beekeeping season looks like.
We work with local farmers to house our bees throughout Central and Southern Alberta: we do the beekeeping and they do the farming for us so it's a great arrangement for all of us :). We have strict requirements when deciding where to put our hives and which farmers we work with, including the presence of natural wildflowers (sweet red clover, apple blossoms, lilacs, dandelions, etc.), a natural water source, and wide open space.
What more would you like to know about the beekeeping process?? Did you learn something new about bees and beekeeping?
Creamed Clover Honey
Our creamed clover honey is raw and unpasteurized. We harvest it directly from our hives as a liquid and then put it through a freezing process to cream it (this is your hint to get those bonus rewards points on our website ;)). We choose to freeze the honey because we believe that it is the best way to keep the honey as pure as possible without adding anything to it (starter crystals) or destroying it through any heat created by friction caused by whipping it.
Creamed honey will maintain its texture and never crystallize though you can return it to its liquid state if preferred by placing it in a warm water bath.
We’ll be giving away one 500g jar of our incredible creamed clover honey to one commenter on this post, so make sure to ask those questions and share what you love about our creamed clover honey!
Cinnamon was the first flavoured honey we ever created and it's been a favourite ever since! It's made by combining our pure clover honey with Ceylon cinnamon from Sri Lanka.
We use this honey in a variety of ways: in coffee, in tea, in baking, on toast and bagels, you name it! We have some of our favourite recipes (including these yummy fried bananas Kira and her little one made this week) posted here, with more to come as they're tested or shared! :)
We'll be giving away a jar of cinnamon honey to one commenter on this post, so share your favourite use for it!
We carry SEVEN different permanent flavoured honeys: cinnamon, chocolate, ginger, lavender, maple, licorice, and turmeric. All of them fulfill the same standards as mentioned above (pure Forever Bee honey combined with ONE organic ingredient).
Our gift towers make an amazing gift (Mother's Day is coming up quickly!) and feature one jar of each flavour of honey. We also make small gift packs featuring our beautiful creamed clover honey and one flavour of your choice.
We're giving away one large gift tower! To be entered, comment with who you'd give this delicious honey to or ask any questions you have! :) Shop our gifts here.
Honeystix
For the mamas out there looking for some new treats for the kids, we have our amazing honeystix. These are a market staple for us and kids LOVE them!
They're conveniently portioned for a little treat for bigs and smalls and are handmade with our very own flavoured honey! We're excited to be giving away a variety pack of honeystix to one lucky commenter, so share your favourite way to use honeystix or how you would use them if you had some!
Who can see the bee pollen in this photo?!?! We'll give you a hint: bees collect pollen on their knees and two separate bees in this shot have some hanging around ;).
Bee pollen is an incredible natural food and only a teaspoon a day is necessary to reap its many benefits (and that teaspoon contains over 2.5 billion grains of flower pollen that took a busy little bee 8 hours to collect!). We collect it 3 weeks out of the year from our strongest hives. Bee pollen is approximately 40% protein and contains nearly every nutrient needed by the human body and cannot be replicated by a laboratory (though they have tried!). Bee pollen is best known for assisting in seasonal allergy symptoms but has a host of health benefits, find the details on our FAQ page. *Note that if you are allergic to bee stings, it is not recommended that you consume bee pollen!*
We’ll be giving away a bee pollen sample jar to a commenter this afternoon, so make sure to ask your questions or share why you love our pollen!!!
We're going to demonstrate three different ideas for fun activities to do with the kiddos while everyone is home for a while with Forever Bee products (they also make great gifts for mom when done with Dad or a big sibling ;))!
First up, our beeswax blocks! They're available to you in two forms: two 1/2 pound blocks for $15 or ten 1 ounce blocks for $10! Beeswax is simple to melt down and can be used for all sorts of things, including these super cool luminaries!
We're excited to be giving away a 10 pack of 1 oz blocks to one commenter on this post! What's your favourite way to use beeswax? To shop beeswax, go here.
Cookie Cutter Candles
Up next, super fun beeswax sheets!
They come in a variety of colours and can be used for so many things, including rolled candles and these cookie cutter candles. Let the kids go crazy with their designs and enjoy some smoke-free, dripless beeswax candles (or give them away to loved ones who could use an extra pick me up right now!)
Cassandra and her little one took some time this week to make an adorable teddy bear candle that burned for a whole hour!
See our available colours and shop for beeswax sheets here.
Lippy Balm Kits
Finally, our lippy balm kits.
These kits have everything you need to make 50 of your very own lippy balms that you can keep for yourself or give to friends. Joelynn and her family enjoyed some time together making their very own lippy balms! This is such a great project for kids of all ages!
